Dandelions

Golden petals were days ago

But then they withered and they fell

The new ones fall apart when you blow

To make room for the others

Tiptoe across the velvety grass

And you may find one

Or watch them as they pass

That whitish yellow fairy cotton

Blow one for good luck

May your wishes come true

Don't with your wishes muck

Around, or they mayn't come to life

Arboles

They are gorgeous, those beautiful trees

Supporting those hives of busy bees

They give us food, water, medicine and shelter

Their shade keeps us from having to swelter

Forests are our lifeline, yes, they are

They are the reason you can run your car

Chopping them down is just loco

Yet we do it from Myanmar to Morocco

It’s wrong, wrong, wrong

To cut down that wooden throng

Snow Queen

A gentle breeze rustles my cherry tree

Her arms are now bare

But they will soon be adorned

And with jewelry of the best kind

Gorgeous flowers pink and white

She flaunts her ornaments to the skies

Warm drops of rain catch in her blossoms

As beautiful as diamonds and more

As winter approaches her jewelry disappears

And is replaced with her white winter coat

My cherry tree is always bedecked in the most amazing things

Day in day out she never stops

Summer red cherries, winter white snow

Autumn gold leaves sprinkled with brown

And by far prettiest her spring ensemble of pink and white

The one I call my ‘Snow Queen’

Quarrels

Once upon a time the moon had many, many brothers. They were stars.. One day all the stars got into a fight. In vain, the moon tried to stop their quarrel. Bits and pieces of the stars flew everywhere and made huge marks on the moon's face. She cried and pleaded with the stars but, they were so caught up in their quarrel they barely noticed her. But finally she got their attention. Bruised and bleeding she collapsed. When they brought her to her senses, they begged her for something that they could do to make it right. She wanted other lifeforms to exist, so she told them so. The eldest and wisest of the stars told the rest to gather the bits and pieces of themselves and the moon. Once this was done, he chose several planets and threw the star chunks onto them. Soon they sprouted. Some fruits from particular trees fell into some cracks in the ground. The fruits burst and water rushed. These became water bodies. Larger pieces were mountains, and the gravel like powder and rock bits became soil. Then the moon positioned the stars themselves far away from each other. Next the moon pieces became moons. This is our world now.

The Morning is Coming

Golden drops of sunlight light the sky

The morning is coming

Heralded by the songbirds

The morning is coming

Making fishes jump for joy

The morning is coming

Bidding the moon goodbye

The morning is coming

Beaming at prancing deer and growling tigers

The morning is coming

Shining through the leaves,

The morning is coming

Finally, feeding the hungry eyes of passer-by

The morning is here

The moon's speech

As I lay on my back and stare at the sky
And in to the stars heart I try to ply
Suddenly I hear trucks and cars
Leaving our earth with many scars
Over the wall I peer
Not a single walker or cycler near
Upward I look through the bars
Useful things aeroplanes are.
But is it really worth it
Destroying earth bit by bit ?
The moon as she cries
With her innocent eyes
Looks forlornly at me
With so pitiful a face, I cannot see.
Is there a solution,
To growing pollution
Are our wants truly so great
Will we change before its too late
Is it not cruel to use earth as a tool
The moon seems to say
With every beam of light, every ray
"The earth is yours as well as mine
Why do you put her on the line?
You haven't gone too far to mend
If a hand you lend
If you teach from birth
The importance of mother earth
Perhaps the next generation will be more cautious still".

The Shooting Stars

We've been waiting for a day and a night
To watch that beautiful sight
The moon gives a soft glow
And excludes a light, not bright but low
As we sit on our blankets on the ground
We whisper and look eagerly around.
So dark, so quiet, not a sound
And the little ants come out their mound
As if their looking for what we are
All old and young and with battle scars
We stare at the sky
As minutes go by.
The younger ones eyes close
The children freshen up from the garden hose
The parents yawn and all eyes begin to droop
And the fireflies do loop the loops
Suddenly it begins! The stars fly through the sky
Along with the stars the minutes go by
All eyes are open drinking in
Those beautiful stars and their beautiful kin
Once the show is over and we go inside
I think about the stars and their ride.

The Beach

I love the beach
Things nature has to teach
The warm radiance of the sun
Across the sands run
The powdery golden sand
Flows out of my hand
Running into waves
And going into caves
Collecting little shells
Conical, flat and shaped like bells
In all shades of the rainbow
Rosa, orange, blue and rojo
Making sand castles, what a delight
Not an upsetting thought in sight
Then I got a bad start,
The broken handle of a shopping cart
Looking around I see so much garbage
Destroying the beach, I fly into a rage
I think "such a nice place
Yet garbage covers such a lot of space"
"Humans destroy, humans hate"
Were my thought at the area's fate
"And yet I am one"
Thought I at the set of the sun
I mustn't anger, mustn't cry
But remain quick and spry
Then I'll one day change the mind
Of our horrible, destructive kind.

A Visit with Nature

The soft green grass that I see
Is beckoning to me
Sprawled on the grass
I hear humming birds pass
And the chattering of the little field mice
Oh, this feels like paradise
I jump into the pool and splash around
It is so shallow my feet touch the ground
Paper planes flying everywhere
Zooming quickly through the air
I doze under a tree
My mind feels so open and free
I could stay like this all my life
No sadness and no strife
I let my mind wander
Over the hills yonder
I dream of climbing one
With the wind in my hair and the warmth of the sun
Down to earth I come back
To pile firewood in a stack
Before the dark sets the sun
Until this day is over and done
Sometime later I light the fire
In my veins not a drop of ire
Watching the fireflies shine their light
In the darkness of the sweet night
I can smell the green of the trees
As I lay some daffodils on my knees
Down fall the moon's tears of joy as she smiles
Her happiness spreads for miles and miles
I stand with my arms spread wide
As I sway with the branches from side to side
I am so happy in this clearing
With nothing to be fearing
Thus is the beauty of this place
With such wide open space.....

Through the Veil
