Nagasaki

Huge fields of lilies, dewy, sun-kissed

If a pin dropped in the grass, it couldn’t be missed

The picturesque landscape is beautiful yet sad

In looks it’s full, but in spirit, there’s much to be had

Decades and decades it must have been

Since there was anyone ever to be seen

The flora it remains, but the fauna has left

Years ago the damage, ‘twas deft

Nagasaki, and her sister Hiroshima, do they ring a bell

Those past mistakes on which few abroad wish to dwell

That war, the damage it did cause

In world peace an unwelcome pause
