Up goes the little beggar child, tramping up the hill
Breathing in the heavenly scents, all against her will
Sadly, she peers through a bread-shop window glass
And watches ones with more fortunes than her pass
Dong! Dong! Dong! Dong! Dong! The clock strikes five at night
Quickly she draws back with a gasp, the sound had given her a fright.
Her parents would scold her dreadfully, she should've been home by four
Home she reaches, panting for breath, she tiptoes in and shuts the door
Both her parents fast asleep, too weary to even open their eyes
The forlorn child shivering at the door, gets into her own little bed, and to sleep she tries.
Suddenly a bright light flashes and the sight makes her stare
In the room a glowing figure stands and on seeing her wake the light gave a flare
She'd no idea how she had gotten into her room
Mabye an evil spirit had escaped the demon world. But she looked the opposite of doom
Anyways, she looked quite a nice young fellow
With eyes as bright as stars and clothed in a lovely shade of yellow
She scrambled to her feet and hoarsely asked if she could spare some bread
To this she laughed and pulled out a warm robe in a deep shade of pinkish-red
Her breath caught as she pulled it around her shoulders and she laughed in pure delight
Oh, her glowing face was an absolutely wonderful sight
Still she had not gotten over the shock of wearing the fabulous robe
For never had she had anything nearly as fine in her entire wardrobe
For then she was taken by the hand and led straight through her front door
To a wonderous realm none living'd ever seen before
And there for the rest of her life she dwelt happily ever after for many a year
But what happened to her parents, to whom she was so dear?
Well they wander the streets still calling out her name
Hoping she still hides and is just playing a game
Till they too, were whisked away
In that magic land they too did stay
