My mothers pearls

My mother’s string of pearls glisten like dew

The tears of a goddess pure and true

Wept at the god’s brutal defeat

Fell to earth and gave water a stately greet

They emerged lumps of ivory light

Polished smooth by the seas controlled might

Kissed by sunshine, blessed by skies never ending

Sleeping in oyster beds and into the ocean ever descending

Falling to depths unexplored till they fall in some lucky fisherman’s net

Until then they reside in their frivolous goddess mother’s eternal forget
