The stagnant water shimmering and shining like glass
A myriad of fish in all colours swim through the Tank
Some under our feet, some in the ceiling, gorgeous to be frank
Every direction you could turn, up down left right
Is a glass covered, fish filled beauty, such a sight
A red fish conspicuous between her white friends
Race her sisters to all the corners and ends
The wooden door frame seems to be the safe spot
In a game of Sharks and Minnows, none distraught
None unhappy, all joyful, truly this must be to show us
The futility of the life we live, striving for happiness
Never reaching it, always a step behind, forever running after the unattainable
Elusive it may be, but once we are content, it will be stable
A fingertip away, for us to touch but never to grab
If we try it may pinch us, like an ill tempered crab
