The Beach

I love the beach
Things nature has to teach
The warm radiance of the sun
Across the sands run
The powdery golden sand
Flows out of my hand
Running into waves
And going into caves
Collecting little shells
Conical, flat and shaped like bells
In all shades of the rainbow
Rosa, orange, blue and rojo
Making sand castles, what a delight
Not an upsetting thought in sight
Then I got a bad start,
The broken handle of a shopping cart
Looking around I see so much garbage
Destroying the beach, I fly into a rage
I think "such a nice place
Yet garbage covers such a lot of space"
"Humans destroy, humans hate"
Were my thought at the area's fate
"And yet I am one"
Thought I at the set of the sun
I mustn't anger, mustn't cry
But remain quick and spry
Then I'll one day change the mind
Of our horrible, destructive kind.
